Hey friends, my name’s Alex. I’m sure you already noticed my chair. That is usually the first thing people notice about me. But having a chair doesn’t stop me from doing what I love... playing my ukulele! I’ve been playing my ukulele for as long as I can remember. It is a great way for me to clear my mind and I feel happiest when I play. It’s nice being in a chair because I can string my ukulele case over the back of my wheelchair and bring it anywhere! How many kids get to say that?

I’m in a wheel chair because I have muscular dystrophy. Muscular Dystrophy means that I have weak muscles so it’s very hard and tiring for me to move a lot. This is why the ukulele is just right for me because I don’t have to lift up my arms very high. I go to physical therapy where my doctors helps me move and stretch all of my muscles so that I can stay as healthy as possible!
